Cancer Care Coordinator
Navigating the cancer care process can be complex and confusing for patients, their families and caregivers. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, Aventura provides supportive services by way of the Cancer Care Coordinator who assists with these needs. Our Cancer Care Coordinator is an oncology social worker dedicated to providing a full array of educational, psychosocial, case management and assessment needs. Each patient receives an individual plan according to what their needs are. Our patients are provided guidance through the process of obtaining services whether they are for transportation, support groups, psychotherapy, or for support and encouragement. The Aventura Comprehensive Cancer Center Support Services Calendar contains programs for coping including Cancer Support Group, Family/Caregiver Support Group, Reiki, Tai Chi, as well as American Cancer Society-affiliated programs such as “I Can Cope,” “Look Good…Feel Better,” “Man to Man Prostate Group,” and “Reach to Recovery.” In addition, The Cancer Center provides educational materials in our Patient Resource Center where patients may have access to the internet as well as to access other subjects including cancer research. We understand that cancer is initially overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Your Cancer Care Coordinator is prepared to assist you and your family every step of the way.
